Kind of sad that I consider myself lucky that I'll only be 20,000 dollars in debt when I graduate.

+erttheking Pay it off immediately and don't let them find ways to double your amount by lowering your monthly fee. $20k can turn into $60k if you give them an inch.

I had no problem paying off my community college degree. Avoid the for profits, they have a lot of hidden traps, poor job placement programs, and in some cases the degrees are not considered official. It all depends what work you are aiming for.

It's impossible when they keep piling up interest on you. My loan is 30% interest. They also took my loan of $26k and turned it into $65k because my provider went bankrupt, and I was convinced to switch to Citibank who screwed me over. This system is designed to keep you poor, stupid, and unhealthy. Once your health goes, it's over. You guys in Canada have it way better than us. I'm just glad I got my current job has a way out. I guarantee that won't be the case for 90% of my generation.

You think I knew that when I attended? I paid off my first degree with no issues. I use my degree, and it pays the bills, but it doesn't change the fact they got MILLIONS of Americans on this loan fraud.

My business has been going really well. Imagine a bridge. You want to cross that bridge to reach your job. You are good at that job, but you need the degree.
You don't know there's a thief underneath, waiting. You have been told your whole life to cross a bridge to get the job. So you do. You get robbed, and that's the current system. America.

+erttheking Yup. My boyfriend settled his $130k loan that had 11% interest. If I hadn't quit Westwood when I did, I'd have over $80k for a worthless degree. "Luckily" I "only" have $22k.

I'm graduating in 2016. Between my loans and the loans my parents were kind enough to take out for me (because I have no credit), I will owe just under $50,000 dollars. For a single degree. And this generation isn't guaranteed a job after graduation.

+Steven P "free" As in I have to pay it back. I owe nearly $60,000.
Also, my parents. They were going to kill me if I didn't go to college for business. I'm not even joking. I was going to go to school for science (either astronomy or biology) and they threatened to kill me. Because "there are no jobs in any field but business right now."
So... yeah. There ya go.

Borrowed $40k from SallieMae with some of the loans at 11% interest. I graduated into an internship, then into a job with an underwhelming salary. The loans are crippling, and I will be putting off the milestones of life, i.e., buying a car, home, marriage, retirement savings, etc. I have my degree in the same envelope I picked it up in, because I have no reason to display something that I'm not proud of.
